FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kevin Healy to Release Debut LP | 7/12
The work’s first single, “Quarter Tank of Gas,” is out now.
SAN, ANTONIO, TEXAS (June 14, 2024) - Texas Country artist and songwriter, Kevin Healy, released his first single, “Quarter Tank of Gas,” on Friday. It is the first release from his upcoming self-titled debut, which contains eight original songs that document key moments from Healy’s well-traveled life.
Healy penned “Quarter Tank of Gas” during his time spent living in Australia. “I left everything behind to move there,” Healy remembers, “The song laments both losing the freedom of a simple drive across the countryside, and watching it slowly be overtaken by urban sprawl.”
Like every song on his self-titled debut LP, the “Quarter Tank of Gas” is informed by Healy’s adventurous spirit, which has taken him to all four hemispheres, and includes deployments as far as El Salvador and Sicily. A former Naval Aviator, Healy left the military due to an inability to reconcile further service with his oath of office. “Honest and integrity are key ingredients of a good songwriter, and it doesn’t hurt to have some sea stories too.”
The self-produced LP was recorded both at Healy’s home and yellowDog Studios, and features him on a large majority of the instrumentation. Healy’s quartet will be on tour this summer to promote the record. Up-to-the-minute updates can be found on Instagram.
